The Cooperative Winery of Vidigueira was once again awarded with an international prize. On this occasion, it was the Wine Masters Challenge 2016, which gave the winery the fourth place on the «Top Wine Producer of the Year» list.
For José Miguel d’Almeida, ACVCA’s president, this recognition «represents a confirmation of the quality and efficiency of our work and of the products we produce here. In 2016 we aim to surprise again and raise the satisfaction level to which the market is accustomed. We will continue to work so that our achievements can be multiplied in years to come», he assures.
The competition, which is in the 18th edition, has also awarded the Winery of Vidigueira’s winemaker, Eng. Luís Leão, with the fifth place on the «Top Winemaker of the Year» list.
This recognition places the winemaker at a level with the best at his work field. His importance as the responsible for the Cooperative’s wines was already evident and reflects in all the awards achieved. However, this individual award is the earned confirmation that arrives just in time.
In this regard, Eng. Luís Leão reveals that he is «surprised, but mostly very happy with the classification I was given. It is always a great honor and a great incentive when our work is recognized, mainly at this level», he comments.
In the category for best wines, the competitions awards gold or silver medals only to the finalists and those considered exceptional. In this segment, the Winery achieved a total of six silver medals for the Vidigueira wines: Grande Escolha (white and red), Reserva (white and red), Alicante Bouschet and also Vila dos Gamas white.
