ALENTEJO WINES SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
The Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission (CVRA) received on December 3, 2019 the title of European Ambassador of Rural Innovation , by LIAISON, with its Sustainability Program, of which our winery is part.
The European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability program had a membership of 200 applications from 13 countries in 2019, where it evaluated the innovative and inspiring nature of each project.
“In Portugal, the CVRA was a pioneer in the development and implementation of a sustainability program, of voluntary adhesion, able to look at the issue in an integrated way and in order to respond to different motivations. Launched in 2014, the PSVA followed a practice already established in several wine regions worldwide, and has been gaining importance in markets where Alentejo wines are gaining position,” said João Luís Barroso, manager of the PSVA, on the website of the Wines from the Alentejo.
The Cooperative Winery of Vidigueira, Cuba and Alvito is part of this project, and has been expanding its commitment to environmental preservation, from clean energy, with photovoltaic panels, to the treatment of industrial waste. Still within the industrial space of our winery, we have promoted behavioral practices, oriented towards greater environmental responsibility.
