VINDIMAS 2020
With the end of the harvest, we couldn’t be happier!
We went through a controversial period that was marked by a new reality. These harvests were nothing like what we were used to, distances had to be kept, spaces had to be respected, materials disinfected in an even shorter time frame than usual, and the adiafa that will remain for next year.
The weather conditions were unstable, very hot days, and nights that alternated between cold and hot. There was some scalding in some vineyards, but our associates managed to take care of the remaining grapes so that they arrived at the winery with quality. We highlight the good production of grapes with an increase of 13%.
The whites have quite fruity aromas, and the reds revealed a fantastic color. Grape varieties such as Antão Vaz, Arinto, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, and Touriga Nacional showed consistent bunches, with the right level of sugars and a balanced alcohol content.
Despite all the obstacles “the cooperators of this Winery managed to make the harvest run smoothly, following the Guide of Recommendations – Harvest 2020 we formulated to help comply with the recommendations of the Directorate General of Health,” said José Miguel Almeida, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito. He also stressed that “despite the scald that occurred, the winery received more than 8 400 000 kg of grapes, and expectations are positive. Surely we have a good harvest of 2020.”
The harvest ended on September 30, with its peak on August 31. The winery team and all the associates who are always with us at this time of year are looking forward to the result of this harvest.
