Winery wines awarded (1 “grand gold”, 2 “golds” and 2 “silvers”)
Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito (ACVCA) was again distinguished with the awarding of five medals to its products – three gold and two silver in the International Competition of Wines, Spirits Drinks and Olive Oil, called “International Awards Virtus Lisbon 2019”.
It was thanks to the wine culture, in terms of production, consumption, and openness to international trade that Portugal was the chosen country for this contest, which is organized by the Spanish company Excelencias de Huelva.
Some of the winery’s most iconic wines returned medalists. At the head of the awards and with the distinction Great Gold was classified the Vidigueira Grande Escolha Tinto, and the Vidigueira Antão Vaz Premium and Vidigueira Grande Escolha Branco, were distinguished with the other two Gold medals. The silver medals went to Vidigueira Touriga Nacional and Aguardente Vínica Velha Reserva.
José Miguel Almeida, President of ACVCA is “enormously recognized by these international awards, which once again prove that Vidigueira and especially the Adega Cooperativa produce some of the best wines in Portugal. Returning from the event with all these awards is an indication that we are still on the right track”.
The panel of judges was composed of 40 experts of seven nationalities, who analyzed the 462 wine samples from countries such as Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, France, Portugal, and Spain, among others. An observer from the International Wine Organization (O.I.V) was present to verify compliance with the blind tasting rules.
